Google Laje
An immersive experience vibrating São Paulo’s rhythm
Laje is a multidisciplinary Google space in São Paulo, primarily used for hosting events for external audiences. Inspired by Caetano Veloso's song "Sampa," a homage to the city which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2018, the immersive space reverberates with sensations and physically incorporates the visual representation of sound waves.
Covered in an undulating "skin," with a topography constructed from the vibrations of the musical notes in "Sampa," the space occupies a gap between the two towers of the Pátio Malzoni building.
The immersive nature of the project is reinforced by the lighting design, which creates an optical illusion on a graphic panel, forming the Google logo. For this space with high public usage, signage occupies unusual surfaces, such as the floor, becoming visible and understandable in a fluid way, while staying within the conceptual proposal of the structure.
